i bought an electric tooth brush, made by Braun. same company as the Braun Nizo. are those super8 motors? not sure. they're not 16mm though. powerful little buggers. you might tear one of those babys apart. since Braun is still around, and still building robotics, maybe they'll build us a camera if we ask real nice.

Anybody happen to know where those tiny motors that run Super-8 Cameras might be in inventory?
Perhaps some pack rat has stored them for the last 20 years.
Or, are there current manufacturers who make motors with for different types of products that perhaps can also be used as a Super-8 motor.
My goal is to convert a camera from 18FPS to 24 FPS, unfortunately, the motor is already running at max voltage, and only does 18 FPS.
Thanks in advance.

this is a good topic, we should explore this much more.

what make of camera is it?
you could acquire a 24fps motor from a parts camera by the same manufacturer.
personally, i'd recommend just getting a camera that runs 24fps.
but maybe you're fixed on doing this... as i get, at times.
i doubt the toothbrush motor is the same as the braun super8 motor. it might work, but there's too many unknown variables. you could collect dozens of motors before you'd find one that worked.
besides, how do you get a toothbrush motor to run 24fps?
well, my friends say i'm obsessed with doing things myself. and i guess this forum is rife with my sort. but an electric toothbrush powered small guage motion picture camera?

i mentioned the tooth brush motor as a example. there are still people making micro-motors and Braun is still out there.

How about using precision motors made for RC cars? I beleive they are very powerful and stable.

As usual, interesting comments.
I have an Elmo camera that I have my heart set on making it go at 24 FPS.
Irv Higdon asked his tech guy, who said it doesn't seem possible.
Of course, I stubbornly persist.
the faster motors are bigger, and won't fit in the space allotment.
The motor in the camera is already drawing maximum voltage.

i'd like to see if a Kinoflex would take a motor.

A motorized version of the Kinoflex is available at http://olexcamera.freeyellow.com/start.html
